Building Organic Relationships in Real Estate with Quintavius ‘Q’ Burdette

For Quintavius Burdette, known as “Q,” being a real estate agent is a lot like playing Division 1 college football: It’s a blend of mindset, consistency and, above all else, hustle.

In his first year of being a real estate agent with RE/MAX Experts in Tennessee, Burdette reached RE/MAX Chairman’s Club, and one year later earned entry into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame.

On this week’s episode of the Start With a Win podcast, Burdette joins RE/MAX Holdings CEO Adam Contos to share his journey from football to real estate – and how he’s found so much success in so little time.

Growing up as one of 17 kids in his family, Burdette understood the importance of going above and beyond to stand out.

“When you come from a background like I have, you can easily be forgotten or overlooked, [so] I’m very humble and loud. I care for people, but I don’t mind working,” he says. “I don’t want anything given to me.”

Burdette likes to challenge himself. He managed to simultaneously play D1 football and run track for the University of Mississippi. After receiving his master’s degree, he was ready for a new challenge.

Two years ago, Burdette knew nothing about real estate, but today, he is among the most successful real estate agents in his state. Discipline, he says, is the key to staying on track with goals and jumpstarting a business.

Burdette conducts his business knowing that just because he’s doing well one day it doesn’t guarantee he will be doing well the next. That’s why he developed his four-point system, a unique way to work toward a small goal each day and never lose momentum. Points are allotted to certain tasks, like two points for listing a new home and one point for showing homes to a client.

“Thirty to 45 days from now, one of [your] contracts is going to close. If you don’t have something that is going to replace [it], your business is moving backwards – not forwards,” Burdette says.
