Mauri Tamborra is an entrepreneur at her core, so her real estate success is no surprise. In an interview with RE/MAX News, Tamborra shared her path to real estate – the culmination of years of successful ventures in sales and business-building opportunities that ultimately led her to getting her real estate license in 2004. She hasn’t looked back and has since become one of Colorado’s leading RE/MAX agents and team leaders, newly expanding her license to California.
The Lifetime Achievement recipient and Diamond Club Team member moved to eXp in 2018, but quickly realigned with the RE/MAX brand in 2020 after realizing it was the best place for her to focus on what she does best: making clients’ dreams a reality.
In 2018, a colleague brought eXp to Tamborra’s attention and she made the move knowing her previous career experience would lend itself nicely to their business-building plan. While Tamborra appreciated the opportunity to explore a new way of doing things, she found that she wasn’t spending as much time in the trenches of the transaction as she used to. Being the real estate warrior that she is, she missed producing and focusing on the parts of the transaction that made her passionate about the industry in the first place.

Anxious to be back in the business of buying and selling homes, Tamborra moved to RE/MAX Leaders in Centennial, Colorado, in 2020. Tamborra said of the transition, “I found myself appreciating the chance to align with a broker I could relate to and an office in my immediate area that had the resources to support me as I grew my business.”
Tamborra adds, “When I had a wavering moment with eXp, I did not consider for even a second going anywhere else. Coming back to RE/MAX Leaders was like the feeling of returning home after being away a long time.”
The feeling is mutual. RE/MAX Leaders Broker/Owner Nezar Aweida is thrilled Tamborra has returned to RE/MAX.
“Mauri is an exceptional agent and team leader. She prides herself on giving every single one of her clients the same attention and dedication they expect when serving their real estate needs. I am extremely proud to have her and her team be a part of our RE/MAX Leaders Family!”
“There’s not a better quality agent out there, in my opinion, than a RE/MAX [agent],” Tamborra says. “When you’re working with RE/MAX agents, you know they are knowledgeable, ethical and well-advised agents. There is confidence that their clients are also well-advised and the transaction will be successful.”
What advice does this successful team leader have for other agents with high goals?
1. Invest in Yourself
With an extensive background in sales, marketing and public relations, Tamborra and her team invest in marketing tactics in their client-base communities so homebuyers and sellers know exactly who to contact when they are ready to make their move. “Before the pandemic, I was a big proponent of open houses,” Tamborra says. She and her team also advertise with the local schools’ sports teams, gyms and grocery stores. “The RE/MAX balloon already gains respect in the eyes of the consumer, but it’s important to market your business and your team to gain exposure and build trust within your community.”
2. Know Your Value
“The iBuyer move is not the way to go,” Tamborra says. Often the iBuying business models are counterproductive for both the agent and the consumer, she cautions. She advises being confident in the value a full-time, professional real estate agent offers to clients on either side of the transaction and warns against getting caught up in the hubbub of discount brokerages and ‘quick cash close solutions’ companies.
3. Hang Your Hat with a Broker You Trust
“Kerron [Stokes; Manager of RE/MAX Leaders] and Nezar are literally always there for me,” Tamborra says. “I always feel valued, they respond to my calls within minutes regardless of the time of day/night, and I always get top notch expert advice and support that I can depend on. It’s priceless.” According to Tamborra, finding a broker who will be on your side and who can provide counsel when needed is the main ingredient in the recipe for success.
“It’s a tough time in real estate with inventory levels as low as they are,” Tamborra says. “But these things can help!”
