“[Leadership] is not a position – it’s an action. It’s how you influence all of the people around you,” RE/MAX CEO Adam Contos says.
Adam currently leads more than 600 RE/MAX Holdings employees, including the corporate headquarters staff supporting the global real estate giant RE/MAX and Motto Mortgage, the first national mortgage brokerage franchise in the U.S. Prior to entering the real estate industry, Adam held leadership positions in law enforcement. But, as he points out, it’s not these positions that define his title as a “leader” – it’s his actions along the way.
On this week’s episode of the Start With a Win podcast, Adam goes solo and speaks to Win Nation about all things leadership.
“[Leading is] a daily practice, a daily activity, in how you structure your emotions, how you deal with other people, how you influence, how you carry your attitude [and] what you do with your ego,” he says.
Adam believes true leadership is determined by the example a person sets for others and the inspiration they provide.
“You can’t lead others unless you can truly lead yourself,” he says.
A great leader should possess and demonstrate kindness, generosity and helpfulness, he adds.
Tune into this week’s podcast episode for Adam’s anecdotes that paint a picture of positive, successful leadership in all facets of life and business.
