You have control over so few aspects of life, but you can take control of being organized. That’s Ría Safford’s best advice for people to realize that their persistently cluttered lifestyle is holding them back.
Safford is the founder and CEO of RíOrganize, a luxury home organization business that has helped thousands of families transform their living spaces and has equipped them with the tools and knowledge needed to make organization a regular habit. She has a track record of success around the country and regularly works with celebrity and all-star athlete clients, too.
On this week’s episode of the Start With a Win podcast, Safford joins RE/MAX Holdings CEO Adam Contos to share the greater impact that organization has – and how to make cleanliness a priority.
“How you live and organize your life personally will affect how you live and organize your life in your business,” agrees Adam.
Ironically, Safford admits she is not a naturally organized person. She grew up unorganized and never saw organization as a priority, which is a common hurdle for many.
“I realized pretty early on that if I didn’t create actual systems that were going to help our home function seamlessly, I wasn’t going to be my best self,” she says.
“It wasn’t that I didn’t know how to do it, it’s that I didn’t prioritize it.”
Safford left her career to jumpstart RíOrganize with the intention of changing the lives of others. She gained both clients and recognition early on through tactics like attending “mommy and me” classes for people with young children and by establishing an Instagram presence.
While the state of the home makes an impact on your physical well-being, Safford believes it takes a significant toll on your emotional well-being, too.
“My mental state has started to be a direct correlation of how I started to maintain my spaces,” she says. “Things really started to fall if I was just feeling like I wasn’t on top of anything and I didn’t have it together.”
Safford also unpacks the highly personal aspect of being a small business owner who requires trust from clients to enter into their homes and make changes – similar to the work of a real estate agent.
Tune in to this week’s podcast episode to learn more about the benefits of leading an organized life and how newfound passions coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit can open doors for business.
