The best leaders use their position of influence to create opportunity for others – and that’s exactly what Luis Padilla plans to do as the 2022 President of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP).

A standing ovation commenced as Padilla took to the stage at the NAHREP National Convention and Housing Policy Summit in Washington, D.C on March 15 to be installed as the association’s newest President. Padilla will spearhead the charge on the shared mission of supporting and increasing Hispanic homeownership and adjacent initiatives throughout the U.S. with a specific interest in helping create generational wealth within families.

“I am humbled for the opportunity to serve as NAHREP President,” said Padilla, CEO of The Padilla Team with RE/MAX Advance Realty in North Miami Beach, Florida. “No legacy can begin or continue without vision.”

“I stand before you dedicated to creating and strengthening the NAHREP legacy through the NAHREP 10 Principles and by creating generational wealth.”

With 21 years of experience in the real estate industry, Padilla has learned best practices for guidance and success from the challenges he’s faced along the way. After stepping away from mortgage in 2008, he started anew with RE/MAX.

“My wife Debbie and I decided to purchase a RE/MAX franchise and it wasn’t long after that that I met my four mentors and friends who I can honestly say have helped me to get where I am today,” explains Padilla.

He continues, “Through NAHREP, and the great RE/MAX brokerage network, is where I met Daisy Lopez-Cid.”

She introduced Padilla to NAHREP, a community in which Padilla jumped into with both feet. Lopez-Cid, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Premier Properties in Kissimmee, Florida, served as the 2018 NAHREP President, founded the association’s Central Florida Chapter, and now serves on the NAHREP Board of Directors. Proud RE/MAX affiliates, Padilla and Lopez-Cid are influential figures in the NAHREP network of over 40,000 industry professionals nationwide.

Padilla steps into this role with a breadth of knowledge having worked in mortgage and as a real estate agent, Broker/Owner and team leader. The Padilla Team, led by Padilla, received the RE/MAX 100% Team Club accolade in 2021.

“Luis will be an instrumental leader for NAHREP and the Hispanic community in 2022,” says Mike Reagan, RE/MAX Senior Vice President of Industry Relations and Global Growth & Development. “His passion, drive and enthusiasm for increasing sustainable homeownership is unparalleled, and he embodies the RE/MAX culture of advocating for homeownership opportunity for all.”

NAHREP was founded in 1999 with a purpose of championing homeownership for the Hispanic community, educating and empowering real estate professionals, and advocating for public policy that promotes fair and sustainable housing. RE/MAX has been a proud national partner of NAHREP since 2015 and has had the highest representation in NAHREP’s Top 250 Latino Agents ranking for six straight years.

Padilla credits his parents for instilling in him a ceaseless work ethic and guiding values that he says he will use to lead NAHREP during his presidency.

“[They] sacrificed everything and left Cuba [for] America when I was 2 years old with their clothes on their backs. They made me who I am today [and] showed me what it means to work hard for your legacy,” Padilla says. “We are stewards in building a legacy that will long outlive us and we must learn from the leaders who shape us.”
