Tiffani Bova has a unique profession: traveling around the world to learn how companies grow – and what fuels the best company culture.

Bova is the Global Customer Growth and Innovator Evangelist for Salesforce, the author of the bestselling book “Growth IQ: Get Smarter About the Choices That Will Make or Break Your Business” and the host of her own podcast, “What’s Next! With Tiffani Bova” – one of the top 100 business and marketing podcasts on iTunes.

On this week’s episode of the Start With a Win podcast, Bova joins RE/MAX CEO Adam Contos to share how she helps companies grow from the inside out.

There is one question Bova asks the leaders of the companies she works with: “What are you doing to enhance your company’s community?”

She believes a company’s values need to be set at the executive level, and those values trickle down to deliver the best customer experience, from when a client first walks through the door to the service they receive from the business down the line.

“[Executives] need to understand how their role, day in and day out, serves the greater good of the business, community and shareholders,” Bova says.

She also confirms that a leader’s job is to have honest, transparent and sometimes tough conversations with employees. The best leaders stay engaged with their employees and communicate with them on a relatable level.

Involved leaders ask questions, take interest in employees and foster the mindset that great ideas can come from anywhere. These are the leaders who are better prepared for growth and create a culture of inclusivity, unlike “four-wall leaders,” who lead solely from their office without any crucial company involvement.
