“The idea of giving the highest amount of value to my clients is what [formed] the bedrock of my entire business,” shares Brad McCallum, a real estate agent with RE/MAX First in Calgary, Alberta.

In the pursuit of becoming a top-producing agent and delivering the most value to homebuyers and sellers, McCallum started using video as an effective way to create his own personal brand – and market his clients’ homes.

On this week’s episode of the Start With a Win podcast, McCallum joins RE/MAX CEO Adam Contos to share how video has been his best asset in standing out from the competition.

McCallum earned his real estate license three years ago and, with over 1,000 RE/MAX agents in Calgary alone, knew right away that he had to find a way to differentiate himself while providing unmatched value to clients. To do so, he decided to leverage free marketing already at his fingertips by creating video content and posting across social media platforms.

I thought, ‘Ok, in this difficult market, [I need] a way for the properties I’m representing to stand out … so I built my foundation on using video. Not so much on just [highlighting] communities or showcasing local businesses … I built it on this very simple idea: If you hire me, I’m going to make your home look as incredible as it possibly can. And I’m going to expose [the listing] to tens of thousands of people – more than the guy whose house is for sale down the block,” McCallum says.

He explains how he got started using video with tongue-in-cheek humor – and how others can get over the fear-factor associated with seeing and hearing themselves online. His best tip for becoming proficient on camera? Just start talking to it, no matter how foolish it feels.

“If you’re not comfortable with a stranger walking by and seeing you talk to your camera, then you’re not going deep enough,” McCallum says.

Tune in to this week’s episode to learn what else McCallum suggests agents do to start building their personal brand through video online.
