According to Tony Giordano, real estate professionals looking to grow and thrive need a bigger virtual presence.

“What is the number one rule of sales? Go where the people are. And where are the people today? Online. And what is the number one online source people are on? Social media,” says Giordano, an international best-selling author, business coach, consultant and real estate expert.

On this week’s episode of the Start With a Win podcast, Giordano joins RE/MAX CEO Adam Contos to share how he rose to – and fell from – success, how he helps others become more productive, and how real estate agents should be using video to benefit their business.

Real estate agents need more than just an online presence, though, says Giordano. They really need to have online influence.

He explains that social media is the “modern day front door.” And as such, asking somebody for their social media account handle, following them and engaging with them is the new version of knocking on doors, he says.

Digital communication is especially prevalent in a time of social distancing, which is why Giordano identifies video as an agent’s best tool to make personal connections online.

“The one thing that’s most important over anything right now is getting in the habit of getting in front of your lens in all facets of video – livestreaming, stories, uploading video, iPhone video, production-based video where you hire a crew, green screen video,” he explains. “They all serve a different purpose. But it’s communication – it’s not just for luxury listings, it’s for anything that is being expressed.”
