RE/MAX CEO Adam Contos is back with part two in a series that explores the qualities of an effective, successful leader.

On this week’s Start With a Win podcast, Adam shares the final three keys to effective leadership.

Adam dives deep into the remaining attributes and explains how they develop through determination and passion. Building off last week’s revelations, the list picks back up with:

4. Coaching

Potential leaders should ask themselves two key questions around the concept of coaching.

1. Can you coach?

2. Are you coachable?

To become a better coach to others, Adam says, invest in your own coach for personal and professional development. He believes coaches, mentors and mastermind groups can help unlock your true potential.

“As a leader, you need to be coachable. If you’re not coachable, you’re not willing to get better.”

5. Chessboard Thinking

Leaders must adapt to multidimensional, multivariable ways of thinking. Adam defines strategy as the process of thinking, and tactics as the solutions or actions that complete a task.

In essence, strategy is what you want to accomplish, and tactics are how you accomplish it. Leaders should think beyond day-to-day accomplishments and focus more on long-term goals.

6. Consistency

Adam notes that consistency provides comfort, both personally and professionally. Inconsistent leadership creates worried employees or team members.

Effective leaders, he adds, are able to adjust and adapt. They provide consistent, unwavering leadership, thus keeping themselves and their employees on track for success.

Tune in to this week’s episode of Start With a Win to learn more about the qualities that define an effective leader.
