Since the original sale of the master franchise rights in 2013 and the opening of the first brokerage in 2015, RE/MAX Sri Lanka has been making a meaningful impact on the homebuyers and sellers of Sri Lanka. With five offices – spanning four provinces: Northern Province, Eastern Province, Southern Province and Western Province – the RE/MAX region has long been a mainstay in the South Asian nation of 22 million.

Now under new leadership, RE/MAX Sri Lanka is poised to reach new heights, with a focus on agent productivity, customer satisfaction and business growth, in its quest to gain market share. In July 2023 – 10 years after its founding – the region saw new ownership when business partners Rajeef Koneswaran, Sajeev Edward and Shaseevan Ganeshananthan purchased the RE/MAX master franchise rights for Sri Lanka.

“We are thrilled to continue the legacy of RE/MAX Sri Lanka as we foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration among our existing and future franchise offices,” Koneswaran said on behalf of the new RE/MAX Sri Lanka Region Owners. “By upholding our commitment to excellence and fostering strong partnerships, we aim to make a lasting impact on the real estate industry in Sri Lanka. We are immensely grateful for the continued support of our team and eagerly anticipate the remarkable achievements that lie ahead.”

As an established RE/MAX Broker/Owner himself, Koneswaran knows that to truly succeed one must constantly try new things and push oneself to accept new challenges. He’s been with RE/MAX for 20 years and in the last decade has turned RE/MAX Community in Toronto, Ontario, into a multi-office brokerage with more than 200 agents.

Additionally, Sajeev and Shaseevan both bring with them crucial experience to make an impact on the Sri Lankan market. Shaseevan’s global business expertise will provide technological and business process services to the region. Sajeev, who has experience with global business companies, also has a background in marketing, partnerships, technology and research. He will be the Regional Director running the day-to-day operations across RE/MAX Sri Lanka. Koneswaran will play an integral leadership role in strategic growth for RE/MAX Sri Lanka and will remain in Toronto to oversee the operations of RE/MAX Community.

All three business partners are intimately aware of the Sri Lankan real estate market and culture, which will help them achieve their mission of furthering the decade-long presence of RE/MAX Sri Lanka and becoming the premier provider of real estate services in the country.
