“All the houses are gone.”
Those words, that text, is how Mario Jannatpour discovered his home – his entire neighborhood – was a total loss following a fast-spreading fire in Boulder County, Colorado.
The real estate agent with RE/MAX Alliance in Louisville admits he can’t control his emotions when he sees the outpouring of support offered to his family, which includes his wife and two daughters, who are now left reeling following the devastating Marshall Fire on December 30, 2021.
Among those offering assistance to Jannatpour and at least 17 other RE/MAX agents who lost their homes or suffered significant damage are RE/MAX agents donating to the RE/MAX relief fund program through the RE/MAX GoFundMe account. The program enables agents within the global network to financially contribute to the short-term displacement needs as well as the long-term rebuilding needs of RE/MAX agents in times of tragedy.

“Those funds go directly to the family members, directly to those affected. It’s probably the best way to get boots on the ground [and] money on the ground, as soon as possible,” says Gregory Smith, Broker/Owner of five RE/MAX Alliance offices in the area. “I would say the biggest blessing our agents have is 140,000 family members around the world who are ready to step up and help them.”
In order to offer immediate help, employees at RE/MAX HQ in Denver delivered three truckloads of needed items within days of the fire. Additionally, two RE/MAX Alliance affiliates, Shannon Schliep and Amanda DiVito Perle, created a Facebook page to help survivors with housing needs. Already, the page has more than 3,000 members and has been featured by local news outlets.
“I just want to say thanks to everybody. I love you,” says Steven Carter, with RE/MAX of Boulder, speaking directly to the RE/MAX network. “It’s a great company, and I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else. You guys are the best. I appreciate everything you can do for us.”
Unfortunately, these RE/MAX agents are just a few of many who face the aftermath of natural disasters each year. Hurricanes. Tornados. Wildfires. There is no shortage of tragedy in the world, but RE/MAX agents prove there’s also no shortage of love and support that can be extended to fellow agents in crisis.
“Your dollars are making a difference and it is helping people, so thank you so much,” says Jay Kalinski, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX of Boulder.
