What’s Addison’s favorite place to wear a face mask? “Everywhere,” says the caring, compassionate and talented artist.
Having grown up alongside a brother battling chronic kidney disease and regularly in and out of the hospital for care, wearing a face mask is second nature to Addison, better known as Addie. She’s been wearing masks throughout her life to keep her brother safe. (“We were wearing face masks before it was cool,” her mother Amanda quips.)
In collaboration with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, RE/MAX held a contest for children impacted by CMN Hospitals to design a face mask. The public voted on their favorites, and three winning designs are now available for purchase. For each mask pack sold, 50% of the purchase price goes directly to affiliate hospitals of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
With its inspiring message, it’s no wonder Addie’s face mask design, reading “Dream Big” in colorful letters, won the hearts of voters.

For Addie, creativity runs in the family: Her brother Ashton also created a winning Miracle Mask design – completely coincidentally!
While Ashton has been receiving treatment at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio, Addie has traveled alongside him from their home in North Carolina and maintained a positive outlook. She’s always there for support – and, of course, fun – that keeps the family in good spirits.

We caught up with Addie to learn more about her and her winning Miracle Mask design.
What was the inspiration for your mask design?
We were just kind of brainstorming and I just love adding little things – I like to [draw] flowers and little [details] around what the main thing is. I really just wanted to inspire people.
What does wearing a mask mean to you?
[Wearing a mask] is really respectful for all the kids [that] have an illness or sickness like Ashton. It’s really respectful [for] those kids and really everyone.
Do you have any advice for people going through hard times?
Talk about it with an adult, or if you’re going through something, either color or draw. If you’re anxious, that might help.
What’s special to you about Nationwide Children’s Hospital?
Before COVID, at Nationwide Children’s there was a sibling’s clubhouse. [When my brother was having] appointments and surgeries, I could go there. There were crafts. (“They would talk to her about Ashton’s sickness,” her mother adds.)
A 3-pack of Miracle Masks, which includes Addie’s design, is available for purchase through RE/MAX Approved Supplier blinkswag.com; 50% of all sales benefit the purchaser’s local Children’s Miracle Network affiliate hospital.
