Husband-Wife Duo Find Home with RE/MAX Brokerage Over eXp

From a team at home to a team at work, married couple James Meador and Vanessa Esma always knew they wanted to work together. After Meador, a classically trained musician, earned his real estate license in February 2020, a two-minute conversation with Esma was all he needed to know he wanted to join her at RE/MAX 5 Star Realty in Pasadena, Texas.

“Immediately after I passed my test, Vanessa started recruiting me to RE/MAX,” says Meador, who was strongly considering joining an eXp brokerage at the time.

Before earning his license, he began researching companies for him and his wife to begin their dream of teaming up. Meador narrowed his search and was aiming to start his career with eXp. However, Esma was not on board.

She had worked with other companies prior to RE/MAX, but she didn’t find the perfect fit until she joined RE/MAX 5 Star Realty two years ago. The biggest selling point for her was the opportunity to work for a company that provides training to agents, was supportive of her goals and is located internationally, specifically in Mexico.

“James and I have always wanted to work together. I knew that if he went to another company, I would have to join him there,” Esma says. “I didn’t want to leave RE/MAX, so I spoke with [my Broker/Owner] Kimberly Stephens and hoped she would give James a shot.”

After interviewing Meador, Stephens gave him the shot they were looking for.

Meador knew how much his wife enjoyed working for Stephens, but it was the connection to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals that solidified the decision. Giving back to the community is important to the couple and knowing that they could do a job they loved and donate money to a meaningful organization was a key benefit to joining RE/MAX 5 Star Realty.

After the interview with Stephens, Meador and Esma knew there was no doubt that the RE/MAX brokerage was the place for them to start their dream – it had all the qualities they were looking for in a company. In June 2020, they hit the ground running and, like all great duos, complement each other’s strengths perfectly. Meador is the researcher, and Esma has the ability to start a conversation with anyone.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Esma is using her RE/MAX masks to start some of those conversations.

“I will wear my ‘Wanna Buy a House?’ mask to the grocery store and conversations are immediately sparked,” she says. “It brings some joy and has helped me to still connect with people.”

Now that Meador and Esma are working together at RE/MAX 5 Star Realty, nothing can slow the couple down.

“I’m glad I chose to start as a new agent with RE/MAX. You immediately receive guidance, feel supported and part of a family that wants you to succeed,” said Meador.
