What evolves how business is conducted? According to RE/MAX Chief Customer Officer Nick Bailey, it’s vision, innovation and attitude. Plus, the willingness to embrace change and its many benefits.
Thursday’s special R4 episode of ‘Good Afternoon RE/MAX’ was jam-packed with guest speakers, advice from renowned industry coaches, important network announcements and valuable business insight. Oh, and a guest appearance from a friendly alligator named Fluffy.
Bailey, however, opened the show with a look at how technology adoption – especially with changes that feel strange at first but ultimately “level up” the experience – has sped up in recent years. Inventions like cars, color TV and phones made life better over time, so the wise move is to view innovation as a positive – a “level up.” Applying that thought to real estate, he noted how innovations – like e-signatures and high-definition photography, as an example – should be welcomed as the enhancements they are.
“[Too often] we look for a boogeyman,” he said, rather than seeing opportunity and progress.
Bailey encouraged the audience to reject the notion of “boogeymen” – entrants or changes that come along and rattle the norm. Instead, he said, such developments usually level up the ever-changing landscape.
What does it actually mean to level up, according to Bailey? “To raise the standard by learning new things, constantly evolving and embracing the possibilities of the future,” he said.
“Don’t fall victim to the noise,” he added.
A modern example is the angst around artificial intelligence. AI is shaping not only the real estate industry, but also how we interact with the world on a personal level – reaching everything from social media interaction to food delivery to house hunting.
“We’re making big innovations and big leaps with AI. Eight years ago, there were only 4.5 million online leads… [there are] over 100 million today,” Bailey said, referring to the industry. “We need AI. We need machine learning to take all of that noisy space and pull it up in a mobile environment to say, ‘Here are the 10 people you should be interacting with that might buy or sell real estate today.’ If we don’t, people are going to be chasing that 100 million [lead] bubble. And the difference between a mediocre producer and a top producer is efficiency.” In the end, he said, technology innovation in the hands of a capable, productive agent leads to a better customer experience – a level up for the industry and the people it serves. And that, he added, is good for all.

Experts within – and adjacent to – the RE/MAX network joined Bailey on stage to share their wisdom and advice with R4 attendees. RE/MAX Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Abby Lee, RE/MAX Experts agent Quintavius Burdette and four top industry coaches – namely Jon Cheplak, Jared James, Judy LaDeur and Verl Workman – are just some of the leaders who inspired the network on Thursday afternoon.
A bevy of exciting new partnerships and tools were also announced during Thursday’s episode. Health benefit options are now available to U.S. RE/MAX affiliates in qualifying states through the new Health Benefits Provided by ABO program.
Photography company Snappr is now a RE/MAX Approved Supplier, providing the network with access to quick, efficient and professional imagery for themselves and their business.
All of these innovations and offerings, including the newly announced Coaches Corner through RE/MAX University,® are all developed with RE/MAX agents in mind.
“There’s only vision, innovation and our attitude to welcome it. And we welcome it here at RE/MAX because the future, we believe, is very, very bright,” Bailey said. “Level up.”
