Putting its values into action, RE/MAX is partnering with the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), the oldest and largest minority professional trade organization in the U.S., to address a variety of crucial issues facing the real estate industry and the Black community.
NAREB works toward democracy in housing, closing the racial gap in homeownership rates, and opening doors for minority real estate consumers and professionals alike. In February 2021, RE/MAX officially joined in those efforts.
As an advocacy group for all Black Americans involved in real estate – including professionals, consumers and communities – NAREB has been passionate about housing issues for decades.
The new partnership between RE/MAX and NAREB is a match of shared values, according to NAREB President-Elect Lydia Pope. She says the mission going forward is to support the goals and objectives of both organizations as well as community efforts.
“We definitely look forward to the partnership,” Pope said during an appearance on “Good Morning RE/MAX.” “We look forward to the relationship, and we’re ready to rock and roll with this this year.”

Known as Realtists, members of NAREB continue the activism and advocacy that first began when the organization was founded in 1947. Historically, their involvement is reflected in the creation of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Voting Rights Act of 1965, programs through Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, and so much more. The organization’s most recent recommendations for public policy can be found in its annual State of Housing in Black America (SHIBA) Report.
“There are still so many challenges the Black community faces when it comes to homeownership,” says Mike Reagan, RE/MAX Senior Vice President of Industry Relations and Global Growth & Development. “RE/MAX sees those challenges and, as an industry leader, we’re rising to the occasion to help address them.”
With more than 80 local chapters, NAREB is open to real estate professionals of all races, ethnicities and backgrounds. Anyone looking to learn more is encouraged to visit nareb.com and to register for the 2021 Virtual Mid-Winter Conference, March 4-6.
RE/MAX, which is also a longtime sponsor of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) and the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA), will have a presence at NAREB events in the future.
