RE/MAX, LLC has received reports of online rental scams using the REMAX name. As part of these scams, criminals claim to be working with a REMAX agent or office and pose as real estate agents, property owners, or landlords to collect sensitive information or upfront payments to view, hold the rental property, or begin a fake rental transaction. REMAX brokerages, offices, or agents are not involved in these scams.
Do not be fooled, these scammers may use the REMAX brand, use the identities of REMAX agents, links to agents’ social media profiles, or addresses of REMAX offices in an attempt to lend legitimacy to their operations. The criminals behind these scams may also create authentic-looking documents or websites that use the REMAX logos or the logos of others to defraud consumers.
These scammers may try to create a sense of urgency to convince you to send money or personal information. Scammers may also contact would-be renters over the phone or use social media messaging, WhatsApp, or other services using false names or profiles.
If you have any questions about the legitimacy of any communications with a business or agent using the REMAX name, please:
- Call the REMAX World Headquarters at (303) 770-5531, or
