Professionalism and leadership were loud themes on the final day of the 2024 RE/MAX Broker Owner Conference (BOC) in San Diego.
The day began with a lively panel discussion among top Broker/Owners about how they’ve prepared their offices and agents to keep winning in the post-August 17 environment.
It ended with industry-leading coach Brian Buffini reminding a packed room of attendees that RE/MAX has always been a network of experienced, productive and trusted professionals.
“Plant your flag! Lean into trust, experience and professionalism,” Buffini told the crowd. “That’s what RE/MAX was founded on – and has always done. You’re the best in the business.”
He encouraged Broker/Owners to seize the moment and the competitive edge they enjoy.
“It’s time to play offense. It’s time to get back to the core of who you are. Real estate is better when REMAX is advancing and being aggressive because you have the one thing that no one else has – you have a position with leveraged market share,” Buffini said. “There are companies in certain markets that have more agents than you, but they’re not doing more production per agent than you.”
The key for high-producing professionals, he added, is finding ways to differentiate themselves from non-producers. And Buffini & Company’s just-released online training and designation program, Certified Full Service Professional (CFSP), can help do that. The timely program, with tiered investment levels for offices, includes content from best-selling thought leaders as well as industry strategies such as dialogues, marketing, and listing/buyer presentations for the new-rule environment.
Today’s buyers and sellers, Buffini said, don’t just need an agent – they need a full-service professional.
Leading the way
The morning session focused on how RE/MAX brokerage leaders – with ongoing support from RE/MAX Headquarters – have positioned their offices and agents to find and seize opportunities in the new real estate landscape.
“Our agents are tuned in and ready to roll,” Jennifer Atkisson-Lovett of RE/MAX of Stuart in Stuart, Florida, said during the session titled “The Settlement – and Leading Agents Through It.” “We started preparing a long time ago and we’ve been leading from the front on this.”
The panelists helped their agents get ready through education sessions, developed policies and strategies for their offices, created materials, and coached their agents on continuing to serve clients with clarity and transparency.
The consensus on stage: “We’ve got this and we’ll lead the way.”
The panelists said they anticipate additional shifts and adjustments – and undoubtedly some bumpiness – as industry professionals, buyers and sellers navigate the new terrain. Flexibility and adaptability will be critical in moving forward.
“There are still a lot of unknowns,” Atkisson-Lovett said. “We’re absolutely prepared for whatever comes along. Leaning into the RE/MAX network has been huge during this process.”
