Meet the Two RE/MAX Agents Named ‘Rookie of the Year’ Finalists by RISMedia

Two RE/MAX agents are being recognized for their unwavering work ethic and service to their clients by being named finalists for the inaugural RISMedia “Rookie of the Year” award.

Berto Barrera and Scott Chain – two of only 10 finalists – demonstrate that success can be found at any point in one’s career. Finalists were selected based on their 2021 sales volume and transaction data, investment in professional education, use of technology and community involvement.

Below, Barrera and Chain explain how they’ve hit the ground running – and why they’re doing so with a RE/MAX brokerage.

Berto Barrera, RE/MAX Results

Barrera, who services Warsaw, Indiana, and surrounding areas, began a real estate career with RE/MAX Results in 2020 when he decided he wanted to take control of his future. Barrera immediately found real estate a fulfilling new career path as it provides a way to give back to his own community.

“I try not to set super crazy high goals because setting too high expectations for yourself can sometimes be detrimental. I take it day by day and set smaller goals each and every week for myself that eventually amount to something greater,” Barrera says regarding his mindset. “I am proud of everything I have accomplished in the last few years, from being named a RE/MAX Rising Star to being able to achieve a really high sales volume in such a short time span.”

He learned early on that providing unparalleled customer service to the buyers and sellers he works with is the key to running a successful and sustainable business.

“This business revolves around customer service,” Barrera says. “People choose you in one of the greatest steps they will take in their life, which shouldn’t be taken lightly. Sometimes, answering those late night calls and responding to people on the weekends can mean the difference between a good real estate agent and an amazing real estate agent.”

Scott Chain, RE/MAX Advanced Realty

Chain, who services Fishers, Indiana, and surrounding areas, began his career in real estate with RE/MAX Advanced Realty in 2021. In just one year, however, he has become a household name in his local market – and is a trusted source for real estate expertise.

Strategy drives business for Chain. He harnesses the power of social media marketing to bolster his reputation and is learning all he can from mentors and resources. Plus, he credits his brokerage – RE/MAX Advanced Realty – as being the catalyst for finding success early on.

“I hit my first [commission-based milestone] within a few months and kept going,” Chain says. “My goal this year is to hit over 100 transactions as a new agent.”

Chain cites the communication RE/MAX provided during his search and onboarding process as a leading reason he decided to join the brand to grow his career.
