Marie Osmond has a message for RE/MAX affiliates: Thank you.
The star and co-founder of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals joined “Good Morning RE/MAX” on Tuesday to commend the network for raising more than $160 million for local hospitals.
“You are a beautiful company and your people have the biggest hearts in the world,” Osmond told Nick Bailey, RE/MAX Chief Customer Officer and host of the show.
Having co-founded CMN Hospitals in 1983 – “giving back is good for the soul,” she says – Osmond posits that every family will be touched by a children’s hospital in some way. With CMN Hospitals, it was important that communities help communities and that all the funds benefit kids.
“Think about the money you’ve raised and the lives you’ve changed,” she said.
Osmond, co-host of CBS’s “The Talk” and one-half of Donny & Marie, reflected on her nearly six-decade entertainment career, offering advice on accepting critiques, remaining optimistic and learning from every experience. Before persuading Bailey to join her for a short duet – she’s a little bit country, he’s a little bit rock ‘n’ roll – she revealed that though she’s had countless career successes, she believes her children are most proud of the work she’s done to support other children. She said now, as people are forced to slow down, they’re able to re-evaluate what’s important in life.
“It’s giving back,” she said. “It’s doing something other than focusing on yourself all the time. It’s looking at others with the eyes of compassion and understanding and trying to see what they go through.”
Encouraging everyone to keep an optimistic outlook, Osmond noted that the Miracle Home program, which empowers RE/MAX agents to make a donation on behalf of clients after each closing, is unique – and always important.
“On behalf of the 11 million children who are treated every year at our hospitals through North America, we love you,” she said. “There is a heart that you have. And I’ve met many of you … you’re just really good people. I want you to know that even with all that’s going on right now, what you do blesses so many families’ lives. Every minute, 62 kids enter one of our children’s hospitals. You are amazing people, and it’s amazing to be involved with people who care. So on behalf of all the kids, thank you.”

“They’re not mistakes if you learn from them.”
“You think, ‘Oh, what’s a dollar going to do?’ You would be surprised. What’s a smile going to do? It can make someone’s day. There’s many, many ways you can give back.”
