Real estate agents know the value of nurturing relationships. After all, real estate is one of the most relationship-based businesses.

On this week’s episode of the Start With a Win podcast, Adam sits down with Producer Mark to discuss tactics and simple gestures for creating lasting relationships in work and life.

Adam unpacks concepts from Dale Carnegie’s 1936 best-selling book How to Win Friends and Influence People by identifying the fundamental and psychological techniques for creating lasting relationships.

One concept Adam delves into is to “give honest and sincere appreciation.”

“Receiving a compliment of any kind is game-changing,” Adam says.

Giving genuine compliments will boost someone’s confidence and build their trust in you. Plus, it’s free! Adam goes on to explain the critical difference between sincerity and flattery, noting that sincerity is genuine, whereas flattery – though often good intentioned – is insincere.

He also reinstates the importance of truly listening within a conversation.

“A lot of people listen for their ability to jump in and talk,” Adam says.

Taking genuine interest in others, without constantly speaking to your personal experience, demonstrates a compassionate, caring side that is essential to relationship building and fostering.

Tune in to this week’s podcast episode to learn more tips from Adam – including why it’s critical to smile when meeting new people – to implement in business and daily life for strong and healthy relationships.
