For nearly three decades, Alex Vidal has built a career around helping real estate professionals reach their full potential.

His path through the industry has been anything but traditional. Starting as a secretary and recruiter for a South Florida brokerage, Vidal went on to work as a real estate agent, coach, sales leader and executive, helping agents, and Broker/Owners grow their businesses and achieve more than they thought possible. Along the way, he has coached more than 30,000 real estate professionals and led growth initiatives across some of the industry’s most recognized brands.

Now, as President of REMAX, Vidal is bringing that same people-first approach to one of the world’s most recognized real estate brands. As he begins this new chapter, he shares more about his career journey, leadership philosophy and vision for helping REMAX agents reach even greater heights.

Alex Vidal, President of REMAX

You’ve had a successful career in real estate leadership. What drew you to REMAX?

When I looked at REMAX, I saw the most recognized real estate brand in the world and a network filled with some of the industry’s most productive professionals. Opportunities to lead a brand of this size and significance don’t come around often. What excited me most was the chance to partner with people who are already operating at an incredibly high level and help them reach an even higher one on a global scale.

What excites you most about REMAX as you step into the role of President?

First, it’s the people. Every conversation I’ve had so far has reinforced what I’ve long believed from the outside looking in: REMAX attracts highly driven, highly productive professionals who take their business seriously.

Second, it’s the brand itself. REMAX has an incredible legacy and an unmatched level of recognition. Consumers know the balloon. Agents know what it stands for. Broker/Owners know the power of the network. That’s an amazing foundation to build on.

I’ve spent my career helping real estate professionals grow their business, and with REMAX, we’re already working with some of the most productive agents in the industry. REMAX agents in the U.S. average 11.9 transaction sides!*

I often say it’s easier to help someone go from 11 transactions to 13 than it is to help someone go from zero to two. That’s what energizes me. The REMAX brand has talented agents, strong Broker/Owners and an iconic brand. Small improvements across a network like this can create a tremendous impact.

I want to help the best get even better, build on the strengths that already exist and unlock all the opportunity that’s in front of us.

You often describe yourself as “agent-centric.” What does that mean to you?

At the end of the day, Broker/Owners and agents are the reason we’re all here. They’re serving consumers, solving problems and building businesses in their communities every single day. My responsibility is to help them get better.

For me, being agent-centric means asking one simple question: What can we do to help Broker/Owners and agents live better lives, grow their business and have their best year yet, regardless of what the market is doing?

It also means remembering that nobody owes us their loyalty. Every day, a Broker/Owner chooses a franchise and an agent chooses a brokerage. I want affiliates in the REMAX network to wake up and feel confident they’re exactly where they should be. That’s a choice we have to earn every day through the tools, support, relationships and opportunities we provide.

Leadership is service. If we can help affiliates advance, everything else takes care of itself.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned that still guides you today?

One lesson that’s stayed with me throughout my career is that relationships are still the most valuable asset in this business.

It’s funny. Most agents have hundreds or even thousands of names in their phone, but if you asked them about who those contacts are, they couldn’t tell you much. Probably couldn’t even tell you their last name. Technology has made it easy to collect contacts. It hasn’t necessarily made us better at building relationships.

The agents I see do well year after year are the ones who stay connected. They know their clients. They know what’s happening in their lives. They invest time in relationships.

Technology will continue to evolve and create incredible opportunities, but people still want to work with someone they trust. That’s why I challenge agents to become the clear favorite in their sphere. Build real relationships, add value consistently and stay connected. Trust is still the foundation of long-term success.

Where do you think technology and AI fit into building relationships?

I think technology and AI are incredibly exciting, because they allow agents to spend more time doing the things that matter most.

The best use of technology isn’t replacing relationships. It’s enhancing them. If AI can help eliminate administrative tasks, create efficiencies and simplify everyday work, that gives agents more time to focus on clients, conversations and building their business.

Technology should help us become more productive, not less personal. That’s where I see the biggest opportunity. When you join great technology with great relationships, that’s a powerful combination.

Before becoming a real estate executive, you were a secretary, a recruiter, a coach and a salesperson. How did that journey shape your leadership style?

I didn’t take a traditional path into leadership. I didn’t go to college, and I started working in the industry right away.

Over the past 29 years, I’ve had the opportunity to wear a lot of different hats. I’ve recruited agents, sold real estate, coached professionals, led teams and worked with Broker/Owners trying to grow their businesses. Every one of those experiences taught me something different.

Because I’ve been in so many roles, I understand the challenges people face at different stages of their careers. I know what it’s like to knock on doors looking for business. I know what it’s like to recruit talent. I know what it’s like to build a brokerage.

Those experiences help me lead with empathy and perspective. Like others in the network, I took an unconventional path, and that’s one reason I’m so passionate about helping agents realize what’s possible for their own careers.

You’re an Ironman triathlete and endurance athlete. What lessons from sports carry over into business and leadership?

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from endurance sports is that most people are capable of far more than they think.

When someone looks at an Ironman race from the outside, it can seem impossible. But success doesn’t come from focusing on the finish line. It comes from showing up every day, putting in the work and gradually expanding what you believe you’re capable of.

I’ve found that’s also true in business. The limits we place on ourselves are usually  much lower than our actual potential.

That’s what I love most about coaching and leadership. I enjoy helping people see opportunities they may not see for themselves, challenging them to think bigger and supporting them as they pursue goals they may have thought were out of reach.

There’s nothing more rewarding than watching someone realize they’re capable of more than they imagined.

As you begin this next chapter, what opportunities do you see ahead for the REMAX network?

I see tremendous opportunity, because we’re building from a position of strength. REMAX is an iconic brand with talented Broker/Owners and some of the most productive agents in the industry.

The opportunity is about helping existing affiliates become even better, about attracting great professionals who want to be part of a winning culture and about strengthening the support we provide across the network.

I also think we have an opportunity to tell the REMAX story more boldly. REMAX has incredible strengths, incredible people and an incredible track record. We should be proud of who we are.

My commitment is simple: Help REMAX agents win. If we stay focused on helping agents and Broker/Owners grow their businesses and achieve their goals, the future is incredibly bright.
