Buying or selling real estate can have its complexities – including the use of niche industry lingo. This can prove even more difficult for those navigating the process with a language barrier.
Together, RE/MAX and the National Association of Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) are working to make homeownership more accessible for Spanish-speaking individuals and families.
For the fourth year in a row, RE/MAX is a proud sponsor of the NAHREP Glossary of Real Estate Industry Terms, an essential resource that translates real estate industry terminology from English to Spanish and also Spanish to English. Each year since its inception, the glossary is revised with additions to ensure all parties involved with a real estate transaction have the most up-to-date vocabulary on hand.
This year, consumers and real estate professionals alike can access the premier resource digitally with an all-new ability to conveniently search for terms on the NAHREP Glossary website page.
The glossary is an especially timely tool to have in the current real estate market.
NAHREP affiliates recently revealed that Spanish is spoken at some point in 40% of their real estate transactions, and Spanish is used as the exclusive means of communication in 25% of their transactions. And with the rate of Hispanic homeownership on the rise, according to the 2021 State of Hispanic Homeownership Report, more consumers could be in need of resources that make the homebuying and selling processes more accessible.
“Homeownership can play a significant role in fulfilling dreams, establishing roots and ultimately creating generational wealth for families. RE/MAX is on a mission to make homeownership accessible for all,” says Mike Reagan, RE/MAX Senior Vice President, Industry Relations and Global Growth & Development. “This glossary increases accessibility by easing communication for those who speak Spanish during real estate transactions.”
