Charleston, S.C. — Golfing for affordable housing

The lush links at the beautiful Bulls Bay Golf Club set the stage for the $5,000 RE/MAX Advanced Realty Charity Golf Classic in September. It was just one of many attractions in an extended, year-long fundraising campaign benefiting Habitat for Humanity of East Cooper; other scheduled events will include a silent auction and a raffle. Broker Associate Greg Flanagan and Sales Associate Ann Bragg of RE/MAX Advanced Realty in Mount Pleasant coordinated the 72-player tournament. Flanagan says this campaign shows the office’s commitment to build affordable housing for those who need it.

Hoboken, N.J. — Giving back to a little girl

When he heard about efforts to help a local four-year-old child fighting cancer, RE/MAX Gold Coast Realty Broker/Owner Dan Voehringer joined the effort – and made a huge difference. Ari-Ana Jimenez suffers from a rare kidney tumor; battling the disease involves staggering costs her family is struggling to pay. Voehringer helped organize two fundraisers for Ari-Ana, matched the raised amount and presented the Jimenez family with a $10,000 check earlier this month.

Sarasota, Fla. — “Dine, Dance & Donate”

A longtime supporter of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals took her fundraising to a whole new level in October. Marie Avery has been donating a portion of her commissions to CMN Hospitals since joining RE/MAX in 1995, but this year she set the fundraising bar even higher. The Team Leader at RE/MAX Alliance Group organized “Dine, Dance & Donate,” a benefit that included food, live music and a silent auction. Avery marketed the event extensively, featuring it in her newsletter, distributing fliers at area Starbucks cafés, and talking about it during an appearance on a local radio show. RE/MAX Alliance Group co-sponsored the benefit. By the time the night was over, Avery raised an impressive $4,500 for sick kids.

Tampa, Fla. — Cast for a cure

Sales Associate Marlene Birr knew she was going to have surgery on her hand and forearm, and that she’d be in a cast for some time. Birr got creative, and asked her doctors for a pink cast, turning her recuperation into a fundraiser for Susan G. Komen. Clients and fellow agents at her RE/MAX First in Real Estate office signed the bright cast, offered donations and raised a total of $162.
