Real estate agents are problem solvers. They’re adaptable. They’re resilient. And as they continue to navigate the “new normal” of real estate, they’ll continue to find effective and meaningful ways to deepen client relationships.

That’s according to Vince Malta, the president of the National Association of Realtors, who joined RE/MAX CEO Adam Contos on this episode of Start With a Win to discuss the current state of affairs and how he’s seen Realtors step up in bold new ways.

“I’m very proud to say that in my over 40 years of experience in [NAR], that I’ve never seen more done in such little time for our members, our industry and for consumers,” he says. “And that says quite a lot.”

Praising real estate agents for working throughout the pandemic to keep clients safe and with a roof over their heads, he says from now on there’s likely to be a hybrid version of in-person and virtual interactions between professionals and clients.

“The question I get a lot is, ‘Well, does that mean that we’re less relevant? As we move forward, is technology really replacing us?’ he says. “I quite simply say ‘No.’ Technology is allowing us to have a deeper engagement with our client.”

So when it comes to growth and outreach, Malta says there are now plenty of opportunities real estate agents should be seizing.

“The first one is differentiating yourself as an agent to show clients what you’re doing and how you responded.”

Suggesting agents could reach out to clients who may now be searching for a new home or even struggling to pay their mortgage, Malta says this is a chance to help clients see what’s available and what their options are.

“We have to explain this new world to them,” he says. “This is the time you really can show you are the trusted counselor.”
