Kristian Guerrero was waiting near the conference rooms on Monday at the MGM Grand for a couple of teammates to arrive.

He was beyond excited. The REMAX R4 convention is a lynchpin in his business.

As an agent for REMAX Island Real Estate, in Ambergris Caye, Belize, it’s in these conference rooms where he finds his best ideas.

“I’ve been coming for eight years, and so every year I try to take something back from somebody who’s smarter than me, and just apply it to where I’m from,” said Guerrero, who was the 2021 Agent of the Year for the Caribbean and Central America. “How to grow, how to grow as an agent, how to grow as a team. How helping others, helps yourself.”

Guerrero was part of the REMAX energy at the MGM Grand this week, as thousands of the brand’s affiliates arrived for the annual gathering centered around learning, idea-sharing, networking, referral pipeline building, and bonding with passionate real estate professionals.

For Guerrero, those masterminds are where he can take from the best and apply it to his team and clients in Belize. He admitted it was a tough market last year in Belize, but what he was able to get from R4 led him to personal highs in sales and commissions.

One great example? Years ago he heard from REMAX agent Quintavius “Q” Burdette in a mastermind on how Q bought a moving truck, branded it and allowed clients to use it.

Guerrero thought it sounded like a great idea. So, he transitioned it to Belize. Instead of moving trucks, however, he did it with golf carts.

“R4 has added value to what I do as an agent,” he said. “It’s trying to figure out how to maximize the time that I have with running a business and having a family. That’s why I come because, you know, there’s always something new to learn in these events.”

R4 officially kicks off Monday afternoon with the highly anticipated Opening General Session, where attendees will hear from REMAX CEO Erik Carlson, along with a keynote address from “Atomic Habits” author James Clear. Affiliates in attendance also got the inside scoop on the latest REMAX innovations and partnerships.

Each day of R4 will feature courses, sessions, panels and masterminds dedicated to the timeliest subjects – from harnessing the power of AI to leveraging the growing productivity tools to future-proofing business and so much more.

A big part of it, is peer-based education, where more than 130 affiliates from the network were also presenters, highlighting and sharing their best practices with others.

But education is just one key component of the days long occasion. Another is the powerful network of talented, dynamic people.

People like Tyler McLay, a team leader from REMAX Your Community Realty in Toronto. McLay was attending his first R4 after he was part of the highly respected brokerage that Vivian Risi, Michelle Risi and Justin Risi converted in January to REMAX.

He admitted right after the transition there were some distractions. But attending his first R4, he knew.

“It immediately felt like home,” he said. “It has a great sense of brand and a great sense of community. So very quickly it has felt like home, and I think that speaks volumes.”
