It’s safe to say commercial real estate brokers have been busy this spring – meeting the needs of entrepreneurs and shaping local communities. But several hundred who are looking to take their business to even higher levels – and do even more deals – stepped away to attend the 2023 RE/MAX Global Commercial Symposium in April.

New and tenured professionals alike traveled to Chicago from April 24-26 to attend the premier industry event for commercial networking, idea-sharing and education. They heard from speakers, learned strategy from the best in the business, and gathered at the famous Willis Tower Skydeck to harness the power of the expansive RE/MAX network and meet new people.

After all, fostering relationships is a mainstay for events with the RE/MAX brand.

“[I attend the RE/MAX Global Commercial Symposium for] the networking and the connections,” shared Jessica Ball, leader of The Jessica Ball Team with RE/MAX Traders Unlimited in Peoria, Illinois.

RE/MAX culture is rooted in helping others succeed – and this was on full display during Tuesday’s Top Producer Panel, led by Mark Hulsey, Managing Broker of RE/MAX Results-Commercial Group in Minnesota and Wisconsin, who brings nearly four decades of experience to the table. Hulsey taught an intensive top producer pre-conference session, too.

Eric Wilson of RE/MAX Key Properties in Bend, Oregon, who specializes in both residential and commercial transactions, attended the event to gather strategies he could implement in his business right away.

“My favorite part of [the RE/MAX Global Commercial Symposium] has been Mark Hulsey’s presentation on becoming a top producing agent or team. It was packed with great information I can use every day in business,” he said. “I plan to implement his systems when I get back home.”

Other standout moments from the annual event included learning how to best optimize the Buildout platform specific to the needs of commercial brokers, listening to subject matter experts from within the RE/MAX network share their top tips for business growth, and hearing the insights of two remarkable keynote speakers.

Rod Santomassimo, founder of consulting firm The Massimo Group, spoke on how professionals can adapt to the current and future commercial landscape, and Ray Starling, who serves on the in-house council for the NC Chamber, talked about the relationship between the U.S. agriculture and food sectors – a subject especially important to those who specialize in land transactions.

“This year’s RE/MAX Global Commercial Symposium was a productive and engaging way for brokers from around the world to strategize for business growth,” said Kristie Kimnach, Director of RE/MAX Commercial. “The energy was electric – attendees collaborated and left feeling prepared to take what they learned and bring it home with them. While this event is a key way for a broker to expand their commercial network, being a part of RE/MAX Commercial opens doors to new connections all year round.”

Attendees agree – the gathering of the brand’s devoted commercial division set the tone for more success to come.

“I love that RE/MAX dedicates time and resources to put together a yearly [Global Commercial Symposium], bringing in great subject matter experts [and providing the] opportunity for members of the RE/MAX community to share their knowledge,” says Ellen Mahoney, Owner of RE/MAX Commercial Connection in Huntington Woods, Michigan.

“Over the last couple of years, we have seen tremendous progress and growth of RE/MAX Commercial. The level of commitment to the commercial brand has intensified and is felt by all, which explains why this event has gained so much momentum!”
