Teresa Wallace has always felt compelled to make a difference in her hometown. Born and raised in Louisville, she’s an expert in the culture and happenings of the Kentucky city. Now a licensed real estate agent in both Kentucky and Indiana in order to serve the entire Louisville metro area, Wallace says building community is a driving factor behind her passion for real estate.
After five years in the industry and seeing tremendous growth, Wallace realized she wanted to refine her leadership skills and work alongside others for collective success. But her previous brokerage – belonging to a brand that’s often thought to be team-friendly – wasn’t equipped to help her take the next step. RE/MAX Premier Properties, she soon realized, was the place – with its guidance and resources – to get her there.
“I’m at the point in my career where I don’t need as much help being taught how to sell real estate, but I really need to be taught how to be a good leader. I admire the leadership skills of my Broker/Owner Jay Pitts, and I feel like I have a lot to learn from him,” Wallace says.
“That’s what really prompted me to make the switch [to RE/MAX Premier Properties] – I can learn to be a great leader and to build a team in order to help more customers.”

Finding support, building business
Since making the switch earlier in the year, Wallace’s biggest realization is that her RE/MAX office nurtures existing agents – ensuring their well-being and supporting them as they build their business – and doesn’t focus only on recruiting new agents.
“When I was at [my old brokerage], it was all about who the next agent was that was going to come in. It was very recruitment heavy,” Wallace says. “Since coming over to RE/MAX Premier Properties, I’ve noticed they really care for the agents they have, rather than putting the majority of their efforts into getting new ones.”
In addition to feeling like she had outgrown her old office, Wallace was eager to be aligned with a brand that could provide ongoing support and education.
“I really needed help building a team and [at my old office], the team leader was always busy with recruitment. I felt like they couldn’t just spend time with who they already had there because they just have such high recruitment goals placed on them,” she shares.
Jay Pitts, Wallace’s Broker/Owner at RE/MAX Premier Properties, built his own successful team, so he teaches from a place of experience, Wallace says.

Enjoying brand recognition and a tight-knit RE/MAX community
Just two weeks after making the switch to RE/MAX Premier Properties, Wallace began to see how powerful the backing of the red-over-white-over-blue balloon truly is.
“I got my first phone call from somebody that had found me online, and they asked me twice to clarify if I was with RE/MAX. They called me because they had seen great reviews, and also just because I was a RE/MAX agent – that blew me away,” she says.
“This RE/MAX brokerage that I’m with is amazing,” Wallace says. “All of the agents are smart and motivating and have been so helpful. I love that we have roundtables every week with the entire brokerage where we can talk about everything going on in our community and in real estate.”
Pitts shares that Wallace has assimilated into her new office well because of her unwavering will to learn and collaborate with others around her.
“We have a solid group of high producers here, and [Teresa] has already made an impact within that group, sharing ideas and showing other agents what she’s done to find success,” Pitts says.
“She has the most robust systems in place to engage with her network,” he adds.
Her finely tuned systems and processes aren’t the only factors that have led Wallace to be a high-producing agent and team leader in her area in such a short time. It’s really her positive attitude and ceaseless work ethic.
“I’m learning so much from Jay as far as leadership and mindset,” Wallace says. “I feel this is going to help my real estate career for the rest of my life.”
