How did you get into real estate and why?

Well, it’s probably not your traditional real estate story. I worked multiple odd jobs that were unfulfilling until I found a job as a receptionist at a real estate agency. I then became interested in the industry and 10 months later I earned my real estate license.

When did you join RE/MAX and what originally attracted you to the brand?

I was always attracted to the brand. I had built up a small team – we were No. 1 in our market – and I thought the No. 1 team should be aligned with the No. 1 brand in real estate. In addition, we were quickly outgrowing our office space and I was ready to put my Broker’s license to use. In December of 2016, I met with the RE/MAX regional sales team and things fell into place. I knew it would be the right fit for me and I opened my RE/MAX office in 2017.

How would you describe the support you experienced as you transitioned to RE/MAX?

Most companies tell you they have your back, but RE/MAX showed me! The regional support staff they had in place were exceptional. I had multiple points of contact and every time I had a question, there was someone with an answer. Everyone was so helpful – it was better than I could have expected.

How did the market respond to your move to RE/MAX?

I think everyone was a little surprised at first given I had been with my previous brand for five years, since the beginning of my real estate career. Once they knew why I moved, they welcomed it with open arms. I actually had a number of agents reach out to me to inquire about joining the brokerage, whereas usually, it’s the other way around. Although we do not recruit just anyone, we do give everyone a chance and the move to RE/MAX has helped us put together a really solid group of agents.

How much has your team grown since joining RE/MAX? Why do you think that is?

We started with just a few agents, after some attrition, and have since grown by a couple dozen. I think our success is a combination of two things: one is that we have the most powerful name in real estate backing us and two is that we seek out motivated agents who are dedicated to helping their clients. I think those two things together attract talented agents.

What tools and resources provided by RE/MAX do you and your agents find to be the most valuable?

Every agent has their own preference, but within my office, Megaphone seems to be one of the more talked about apps. It’s like a personal marketing assistant in your pocket – at the click of a button, it turns out customized listing presentations, videos and advertising materials.

What do you think today’s agent finds the most valuable when considering which brokerage to join and how do you ensure your office offers that value?

I think agents are looking for a culture that feels right to them. They want to surround themselves with smart, driven people. They know that when they join a RE/MAX brokerage, they’re working with other top-producing agents. Their careers are in good hands with RE/MAX Synergy.
