In any market conditions – and especially today – RE/MAX affiliates have what they need to keep thriving, RE/MAX President and CEO Nick Bailey told more than 9,300 attendees Tuesday at the Opening General Session of the 2023 R4 convention in Las Vegas.

“I want you to leave R4 with confidence in the housing market, confidence knowing that you’re the most trusted, knowledgeable and productive agents in the history of this business, and that you’re without question in the right place at the right time,” he said. “You are unstoppable.”

Bailey, who took the stage by ziplining from the back of the MGM Grand Garden Arena, noted that consumers choosing a real estate agent generally want three things: trust, knowledge and experience. RE/MAX agents excel in all three. They’ve been recognized for being trusted, they have access to RE/MAX University, and they average more experience than other agents.

“I’m very clear on two things,” Bailey said. “People are going to buy and sell houses in 2023 – and experienced agents will have the upper hand. I get asked when the market is going to rebound, but you can’t rebound if you don’t have a crash. And we haven’t had a crash, we’ve just begun to rebalance, putting buyers and sellers on more equal footing – and that’s good news for all of us.

“The question isn’t whether (people will) buy and sell houses in 2023, the question is which agents are going to be the ones to help them do it. And that’s going to be you.”

The power of RE/MAX marketing

In his remarks following an opening address by RE/MAX Holdings Chairman and RE/MAX Co-Founder Dave Liniger, Bailey encouraged attendees to “get loud” with marketing while many competitors are rolling back theirs. He also urged them to lean into the exclusive services they have as RE/MAX affiliates.

Among those resources is the RE/MAX Hustle tool, a site where RE/MAX agents and teams can create videos, social media content and more using assets from 2023 national ad campaigns in the U.S. and Canada. By branding the material to themselves, agents can leverage the power of world-class creative to market their own business.

“These ads are yours. The competition doesn’t have this level of advertising,” Bailey said. “Get loud. Don’t make the mistake of being invisible.”

To amplify the point, Bailey shared a video clip of a recent “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show in which the late-night comedian referenced RE/MAX in a joke.

He quipped, “Nothing says power of the brand more than that right there. That was awesome.”

The latest in technology tools

Bailey also encouraged attendees to use technology to add efficiency as they connect with what he called “transaction ready consumers.” He reported that MAX/TechSM powered by kvCORE, the latest comprehensive tech offering championed by RE/MAX, is continuing its phased rollout in the U.S. after launching in Canada late last year.

“This is the next step in the evolution of RE/MAX technology,” he said. “It will help you meet consumers where they want to be met. We did because we’re thinking about the future. The future for you and for the market – and it’s driven by automation and artificial intelligence. We’re looking at filling in the gaps and helping you be more efficient as agents.”

He also unveiled a new Global Referrals Platform to help RE/MAX agents connect and share referrals around the world, an asset particularly valuable within a network that has a presence in more than 110 countries and territories.

Launched last week, the digital resource was developed by GryphTech, which also powers global.remax.com. The platform is translated into more than 50 languages, so an agent sending a referral inputs the details in their language while the receiving agent automatically gets the info in theirs.

“We’re connecting the network,” Bailey said. “There is a better way to connect us – and we think this is it.”

More OGS highlights:

• A feel-good moment during the vibrant kick-off session, it was also announced that over the past year, RE/MAX agents donated over $10.8 million for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals, the charitable partner of RE/MAX since 1992. That lifted the all-time RE/MAX total to more than $197 million.

• Keynote speaker Bear Grylls, the iconic extreme adventurer and television sensation, took to the stage to relate the severities he’s endured in the wilderness to how entrepreneurs can tackle any challenge in business. Recounting his time climbing – and ultimately summiting – Mount Everest, he challenged R4 attendees to ask themselves: “What’s your Everest?”
