Many productive real estate professionals agree: Attending the annual RE/MAX R4 can be a major key for business growth, building a referral network, and continuing industry education. The 2024 RE/MAX R4 will take place March 25-28 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas – and it’s a valuable opportunity for gathering with fellow members of the global RE/MAX network, too.

2024 RE/MAX R4

Some RE/MAX affiliates attend each year – and wouldn’t dare miss it. Three RE/MAX agents weigh in on why they trek to the annual event, and how others can make the most of their R4 experience.

Why do you choose to attend R4 ?

Colleen: “I attend R4 as a way to kickstart the spring real estate market. I look forward to seeing friends and meeting agents I’ve done referrals with during the year. The Opening General Session is always inspirational and shouldn’t be missed. This year, I’m also looking forward to learning more about AI technology and MAX/Tech(SM) powered by kvCORE.”

Aerica: “I started coming to R4 to gather ideas and knowledge to grow my business. I still come for that reason, but R4 has paid off for me in other ways as well. For instance, I’ve gotten referrals from agents I met at R4 who are from different parts of the country many times. As we all know, people move! When I refer clients to agents that I’ve met at R4, it is reassuring to know they will be in good hands.”

Jeff: “I am always looking for additional ways to increase my real estate knowledge and education. The bonus is networking with peers throughout the network for potential referrals and to learn what does and doesn’t work for them.”

Why do you think it’s worth it to keep coming back to R4?

Colleen: “This will be my 12th R4. Every year I learn something new or become inspired in a different way. The first few years I attended, I went to a class every second possible. Now, I take longer lunches and have more conversations with people in the hallways. As your business grows, you will find that you’re attracted to different sessions being offered, you’ll ask people you meet different questions, and you’ll take in different pieces of information available.”

Aerica: “Even more than many other industries, real estate is constantly evolving because it’s so sensitive to shifts in technology, the economy, government activity, etc. The best practices of today are different from those of just a couple years ago. The intel, marketing ideas, and vendor options I pick up at R4 every year never feel stale at all.”

Jeff: “Last year was my first time attending R4. Establishing connections with new people or those you just communicate with over social media is always a great opportunity. I’m looking forward to more opportunities this year as well.”

Have you made lasting connections at R4? Do you think the event helps strengthen the RE/MAX community?

Colleen: “Yes, I know I can call on my RE/MAX family to help with anything, in my business or personally. From asking for advice on local extreme weather when I’m traveling to getting together with friends for vacation or prior to a RE/MAX event, the connections I’ve made at R4 are always valuable.”

Aerica: “Absolutely – R4 makes the RE/MAX community stronger. Connecting with agents from totally different regions has repeatedly paid off with referrals, which I didn’t fully expect when I started attending. There are also certain people I look forward to seeing every year. And learning about the nuanced ways in which markets differ from each other is always fascinating.”

What changes have you seen in your business since you started attending R4?

Colleen: “Prior to 2020, I was spending time with people I already knew when I would go to R4. But that year, I made the decision to really focus on using the event as an opportunity to branch out and meet new people. This change helped me almost double by business and helped me create a stronger business model. I was able to move from a constant RE/MAX 100% Club member to a RE/MAX Platinum Club member. In 2023, about half of my transactions came from agent referrals. I have also learned the differences between how business is done in New York and how business is done in other markets. This has helped me create a better experience for my clients relocating into or out of Buffalo.”

Aerica: “Like many of us, real estate was not my first career. But I’m at a point where I’m very pleased with how my business has matured, and interacting with my fellow professionals at R4 gives me confidence that I’m maximizing my product’s performance.”

Jeff: “I have had significant improvement in my referral pipeline since attending R4, and expect to have an amazing year this year.”

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone attending R4 for the first time?

Colleen: “The simple advice is to just go. If you go and feel lost, ask someone where they are going next – they may invite you to join them. Spend time with people outside your market.”

Aerica: “If you see the inside of your hotel room for more than the minimum time you require for sleep, you’re doing it wrong! There’s a ton of value to be gleaned from R4, but only if you’re getting out there. Not only is it good business-wise, it’s also very fun. It’s also important to have a plan to follow up with the people you meet during R4. If you are active on social media, send them a friend request, or mail a letter, or send an email.”

Jeff: “Network, network, network – and absorb new and old information like a sponge.”
